Greek Poss Kondeatis Wins a Bafta Award

2011 Bafta Awards included a Greek nomination and award. Greek cinema producer, Apostolis Kondeatis won a Bafta award for the short film “Until the River Runs Red”, which he produced alongside director, Paul Wright. Apostolis Kondeatis, commonly known as Poss, grew up in London.  He graduated as a new media designer from the Surrey Institute of Art in 2004. He turned his creative talents toward film, starting in post production before eventually moving through to development and physical production.

In 2008, he attended the National Film and Television school MA course in producing. It allowed him the time and support to grow into his role as producer and he has established great working relationships with directors like BAFTA nominated shorts director Paul Wright and Balham bad-boy director Julius Amedume.

In 2010, he began working in animation production. He keeps an eye out for high concept stories and is keen to work with individuals who are active in exploring the arena of interactive narratives. He is developing a number of projects, which include animated features, shorts and a video games.

Until the River Runs Red, which is about a girl who believes she is the only daughter of God, was the pair’s graduate film at the National Film and Television School.  It received acclaim at the Edinburgh and Locarno International Film Festivals.

The King’s Speech accounted for seven British Academy Film Awards, taking home both Best Film and Best British Film, as well as Best Actor and both Best Supporting awards. “Inception” and “The Social Network” each picked up three.  “Alice in Wonderland” took home two. Natalie Portman, as expected, took Best Actress for “Black Swan”, while “True Grit” took home Best Cinematography.
