The Swiss daily Neue Zürcher Zeitung published an article titled: “Mikis Theodorakis and the Song of Paranoia”. The article refers to the “Independent Citizens Movement, Spitha”, founded by Mikis Theodorakis in December 2010. The article wrote: “Mikis Theodorakis represented always the right. He was tortured by the fascists during the Greek civil war and during the junta, as well. He raised the country through his concerts, he fought for the improvement of the Greek-Turkish relations and he composed great music, such as the soundtrack of “Zorba the Greek”. But now he went downhill. Teodorakis believes that his country is surrounded by enemies. He became a paranoid, nationalist, war hawk blatherskite. Let’s hope that his 10,000 following in Facebook have a more critical mind”.
