Deputy Minister Promotes Greek Tourism In Moscow

The Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr George Nikitiadis (photo), extended an invitation to Russian entrepreneurs to invest in Greece, during his visit to Moscow.
Fast track law and resumption of competitions for the tenders for the development of tourism assets are the two main points raised by Mr Nikitiadis in meetings with Russian entrepreneurs. He ensured them that investments would be implemented shortly and also stressed that tourism can contribute decisively to country’s exit from debt crisis.
The Deputy Minister had successive meetings on matters relating to visas. This year there was an increase of 52% in arrivals from Russia (328,000 people) compared with 2009, while in 2011 it is estimated that they would be increased by at least 50% and reaching the 500,000 visitors.
Additionally, Mr. Nikitiadis met with representatives of Visa Centers in order to simplify visa procedures and increase the tourist flow to Greece. 5 new visa offices are about to open in Moscow and also a network of 177 access points is created.
Finally, the Deputy met with ambassador Mr Mich. Spinellis and other Greek representatives in Moscow, as Greek embassy’s role will be crucial in attracting tourist investments.
