CMP Found Remains of 14 Missing Persons, Cyprus

The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) found remains of fourteen individuals after it resumed its exhumation efforts in the Sykhari area.
After two weeks of suspension due to unearthing of unexploded artillery shells in early September, the UN demining experts checked and cleared the area.  Now the CMP exhumation teams have started working again at the alleged burial places.
The terrain is large and mountainous and the exhumation requires substantial technical investment and manpower.  The CMP will continue its efforts in the area until all the burial places that the CMP has information about are investigated thoroughly.
The CMP thanked its scientists for their unabated commitment and hard work.  It also commended the efficiency of the UN demining experts.
Members of the CMP sympathize with the anxiety of relatives of missing persons and understand their wish to find out the fate of their loved as soon as possible. The CMP asked the families to have patience and noted that the process is complex and time consuming.
The CMP once again appealed to all concerned and those who have any information about missing persons to come forward.
