Exhibition by Belgrade students at the HFC

The Centre of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Belgrade in co-operation with the Higher School for Textile, Belgrade, presents an exhibition with works by second-year students of the Department of Design, Textile and Costume in the framework of the course Costume Design B’ under the supervision of lecturer Dušanka Pihler and her assistant Jelena Nikolić.
The exhibition presents costumes and photos of costumes. The patterns of representations of female and male Ancient Greek costumes derive from Ancient Greek painting and sculpture of Homeric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Emphasis is put on the Ancient Greek costume of Doric and Ionic style, as well as the variety of drapery – a basic element of Ancient Greek fashion. The costumes are accompanied by painted decorations and the appropriate hair styles, shoes and jewellery, with a brief description of the period they refer to for better understanding the exhibited works.
The exhibition will open on Thursday, May 6 at 7pm, and run to May 21.
