Panathinaikos Secures Greek double

Panathinaikos secured a domestic double Saturday with a 1-0 win over Aris Salonica in the Greek Cup final at the Athens Olympic Stadium.
It is the eighth double in the history of the Athens club, who secured the league title earlier this month.
Argentine midfielder Sebastian Leto did the entirety of the scoring for Panathinaikos with a long-range drive in the 63rd minute, and they held on to win their 17th Cup final and their first since 2004.
The encounter was marred by outbreaks of violence before kick-off, with both sets of fans launching flares at each other. Riot-trained police stepped in to separate the two groups and calm returned to the stadium.
Aris have featured in the Cup final four times in the past decade, but failed on all occasions. Their sole Cup title was in 1970.
