SAE Europe event

The reasons that created the severe financial crisis in our country can be a challenge for a new historical course. This message was addressed by the Deputy Minister of Financial Affairs, Competitiveness and Shipping, Mr. Markos Bolaris in an event of Greek Diaspora entrepreneurs, organised by SAE Europe Region in collaboration with the German-Greek Business Association, held in Frankfurt on Sunday
Speaking to a large audience, of more than 80 Greek entrepreneurs from all over Germany, Mr. Bolaris said that “the amelioration of the level of competitiveness of the Greek economy is a one- way street, and this will not be done under preterit and socially uncharitable conditions”.
In order to reverse this trend, he added, that a recovery and development plan is necessary, with the first step being the safeguard of our financial sustainability.
The Deputy Minister of Financial Affairs, Competitiveness and Shipping, Mr. Markos Bolaris also made reference to the new financial – business model, set up on the basic pillars of innovation and quality.

The key questions posed to Mr. Bolaris, dealt with the numerous bureaucratic, and not only, obstacles which are met by entrepreneurs abroad, showing interest in making investments in Greece.
In this context, Mr. Bolaris emphasized that “with appropriate financial tools, we can build infrastructure and foster a culture of innovation”, pointing out the need to simplify the bureaucratic procedures for the initiation of business activity.

Proposals from Greeks abroad
The organisation of an International Financial and Business Forum, under the auspices of the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, in collaboration with competent ministries, is being planned by the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), as it was announced by its President, Mr. Stefanos P. Tamvakis.
Focusing on the vital need to initiate collaborations in the present phase, Mr. Tamvakis stressed that “SAE is once again at the forefront for the provision of assistance for our birthplace” and coordinates the contribution of the Greek Diaspora in the newly established Solidarity Fund for the Financial Support of Greece.
The aim is to build confidence between Greece and Entrepreneurs of the Greek Diaspora, emphasized Mr. Tamvakis and towards this cause, the event in Frankfurt is an initial step for informing Greek Businessmen abroad on investment opportunities in Greece, establishing contact, organizing events and seminars, attracting the new generation and a potential creation of a database.
With regards to Greek entrepreneurs abroad, he stated that the World Council of Hellenes Abroad can act as a central coordinating body of all the Business Networks of the Greek Diaspora with respective companies based in Greece, adding that there are very significant Greek chambers abroad, such as the one in Alexandria, Cairo, Melbourne, Sidney, Johannesburg, New York, etc., but new ones should be established in countries where Greeks have a strong demographic presence.

In the same wavelength the speech of SAE Coordinator, Europe Region, Mr. Giorgos Amarantidis, who pointed out that the privileged relation of SAE and the Greek State, could be the prime mediator in support of expressed business interests from the Network of the Region.
He also made reference to the implementation of two projects which have been launched by the Region of Europe: the European Platform for seeking employment and the European Guide for Greek Entrepreneurs, whilst the publication of a Guide for Greek Scientists, Professionals and Entrepreneurs in Europe is already under way.
Speeches in the event were also made by the head of the committee for Greek entrepreneurship and promotion of tourism of SAE Europe, Mr. Giannis Epitropakis and the Vice President of DHW, Mr. Fedon Kotsampopoulos.
