An essay competition in Graikanika, within the framework of efforts to save the ancient Graikanika dialect is being organised in South Apulia by the Organisation for Salvaging the Greek Language. The subject of the essay will be: “The presence of Greeks in southern Italy” (“La presenza dei Greci nel sud Italia”) and those eligible to participate are pupils of high school age from the Greek language municipalities of Apulia, who will be required to present the topic exclusively in the ancient dialect.
