Erdogan Flashes Ultra-Nationalist Sign at Turkish Rally

Images have emerged showing Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an ultra-nationalist gesture at a rally.

The so-called ‘grey wolf’ sign is a hand gesture commonly linked with Turkey’s far-right, which has a violent past.

It is also commonly used by the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), extreme Turkish nationalists in an effective coalition with Erdogan’s more Islamic Justice and Development (AK) Party.

Erdogan made the sign at a rally in the southern province of Mersin as the crowd called for the Turkish leader to recruit them for Ankara’s military mission in northern Syria.
