Authorities Lift Restrictions for EU Citizens Accessing Subscribed Online Content Abroad

On Tuesday the European Parliament and European Council negotiators created a set of new rules to apply to EU citizens accessing subscriptions for online content when they are traveling or temporarily staying in another EU country.

Currently EU citizens are not able to see online content for which they subscribe to from their home country because of blocks put into place in accordance to a cross-border portability which restricts where online music, games, movies and TV shows can be accessed. However, the new rules will enable EU citizens to access their subscribed online content by lifting those restrictions.

The lifting of the restrictions will apply only to paid-for subscriptions, not free content.
