8 Dead After Bus Carrying Migrants Overturns in Western Turkey

Bus Carrying MigrantsA bus full of refugees overturned in the western province of Balıkesir in the early hours of Saturday, killing eight people and injuring 42.

The bus was speeding when it overturned, the Doğan news agency reported. The victims included the 63-year-old driver, identified as Y.Ö. Seven of the wounded were in critical condition.

The refugees, mostly Syrians, were headed to the coastal town of Ayvalık to cross the Aegean and enter Greece.

In a similar incident, six people were killed and 30 others were wounded on Friday when a bus carrying migrants collided with a car in the northwestern province of Çanakkale, whose Aegean coast is another common departure point for migrants heading to Greece.
