With the Greek financial crisis well into its sixth year, migration from the homeland to European nations in search of a prosperous environment has become somewhat of a solution for young Greeks.

Amid this climate, Cynthia Tzitzi, a Greek photographer, is exhibiting the profiles of a number of young Greeks who have moved to London, through a photo documentary.

The exhibit which is named W1D, after the postcode of a Greek Street in London according to Protothema, is on display at the Hellenic Centre in the English capital.

“They are worthwhile professionals, young scientists, most of whom have studied abroad and believe that Greece does not cover their ambitions and dreams. And so they opened the door and escaped abroad. The thirst for the next step in a career that is not pre-defined was the motivating force. All 26 of them are people with scientific training, worthwhile professional experience and the capabilities to have a career beyond the Greek borders,” Tzitzi told Protothema newspaper.

Tztizi is also a Greek migrant, as she moved to London in 2012 after more than ten years of working in the Greek magazine industry as a photographer. She is currently a freelance photographer that also works with a modelling company.

The W1D will be on display until November 26.
