Athens’ St. Catherine’s British Embassy School stood out at the “Generation €uro Students’ Awards,” a competition open to all secondary school students aged between 16 and 19 who are keen on learning more about economics and monetary policy issues, winning the first prize during a special event at the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, Germany.
The competition, which was open to all European and international schools during 2014/15, gave the 2nd place to International School Paris, France, the 3rd place to St. John’s International School, Belgium, the 4th place to International College, Spain, the 5th place to Berlin International School, Germany, and the 6th place to Bonn International School, Germany.
While in Frankfurt for the student awards, Italian economist and current ECB President Mario Draghi stated: “The competition gives us a unique opportunity to directly communicate with thousands of students throughout the euro area. And as the fragile recovery is taking hold, it is extremely important for us to contribute to the further development of the next generation’s knowledge about the economy.”
Anna Vosinioti, professor at St. Catherine’s British School, expressing her great enthusiasm about the Greek first place, said: “It was an unforgettable experience for all of us, teachers and students. It was worth every minute of the devotion concerning the preparation for this competition.”
