Greek Actress Stars in Video of London Rock Band Adam And The ASBOs

London rock band Adam And The ASBOs have collaborated with Greek actress Tonia Sotiropoulou on the music video of their latest song, Eighties Katie’s Leather Pants which was released on January 23.

In the video, Tonia plays the title character. It is the second time Sotiropoulou has worked with the band. Two years ago she had a role in group’s rock’n’roll, sci-fi film, Adam And The ASBOs: The Movie which created a sensation in London’s underground music scene. The band was praised for their unique style and music but were attacked by some critics for mocking established groups like Coldplay and Elbow who they accused of being boring.

Of her time on the set shooting Eighties Katie’s Leather Pants with Adam And The ASBOs, Tonia says: “My experience was dazzling. Absolutely magical.”

Adam And The ASBOs have gained a reputation for their energetic live shows, flamboyant dress and their unconventional, self-made videos. Continuing the tradition, they created the music video of Eighties Katie’s Leather Pants and produced the song, as well as its artwork, themselves.

The “Eighties Katie’s Leather Pants” video also features Swiss singer-songwriter Cat Couture and Greek model Tina Papaioannou. Tonia’s dog Stella also makes her film debut.

Speaking about the video shoot, singer and guitarist J-Bone says: “The shoot turned into a party very quickly. Discipline dissolved into chaos. We meet up to talk about it sometimes but it all seems like a mysterious dream. Tonia’s dog Stella is the only one with a clear memory of that night, and she’s not telling us anything. She’s very stoical, like a war survivor.”

Tonia says: “The ASBOs made me grow as an artist. I am grateful.” J-Bone adds: “That proves how little she actually remembers.”

“Eighties Katie’s Leather Pants” is the first single from the band’s forthcoming EP Bullets of Desire which will be released in February.

Adam And The ASBOs will come to Greece from the 17th to the 22nd of February to promote the EP and to play a gig in Athens.

Theodore Preston, the band’s other singer and guitarist, says: “Our band is a group of wild animals. We’re coming to Greece to learn about civilization.”

“When we were promoting our film we said we would love to come to Greece,” says J-Bone. “Like people with religious beliefs, many of the good people of Greece know in their hearts that we exist but have had no solid, empirical confirmation. We’re coming to Athens to remedy that. And we’re looking forward to it.”
