Moralis was a master of geometric abstraction and his works are distinguished by compositional structures, poetic schematization of forms and expressive synthesis of recurrent and opposing curves.

The artist’s masterpiece “Full Moon L” was sold at 333,125 euros, “Epithalamion” at 153,125 euros, while his third work “Positive” was sold for the price of 93,125 euros.

Bonham’s also auctioned works by other Greek artists, such as Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, whose art piece “Hydra, Composition in black” was sold at the third highest price (123,125 euros). Georgios Bouzianis’ “Portrait of a lady” was sold at 78,125 euros, while “Rue des Abbesses, Mοnmarte” was sold at 40,388 euros which is six times more than its original price estimate.

According to Terpsichore Angelopoulos of Art Expertise “the auction results reflect the effort to stabilize the art market in an era characterized by liquidity and fluctuations. For example, the performance of works by artists who operated in the 30’s, with the increase in prices of works by Ghika and Tsarouchis, and the great demand for works by Moralis, which were all sold at high prices.”
