EURES: EU Job Tool Relaunched; 1,400 Jobs Available in Greece

European Parliament

The new, improved version of EURES, the online recruitment platform by the European Commission was released.  EURES’ main objective is to offer the best services to those who wish to work within the EU and the tackling of unemployment in Europe. The scheme is part of the Youth on the Move package and the Youth Opportunities Initiative.

The 2015 target for the initiative is to help some 5 000 people find jobs in EU countries other than their own.

The platform EURES-Find A Job already has more than 1.7 million jobs, mainly in the United Kingdom and Germany, while about 1,400 job positions are available in Greece.

EURES-Find A Job provides high quality services for both workers and employers. The users can choose through a wide variety of criteria, such as member state, educational level, type and duration of the contract and the required work experience.

The users can find a job in any country within the Eurozone including Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. They can also create their CV and post it on the site so that registered employers and advisers participating in the program can assess it.

They may come into contact with advisers of EURES as well as local employment agencies that can provide information on practical, administrative and legal issues related to finding work abroad.

EURES is a valuable tool that can help many young Greeks find a job abroad at a time when increasing unemployment and low salaries have led many young people to leave Greece.

Two years ago, Greek Reporter also launched HireAGreek.com, a similar non-profit job-finding platform to connect unemployed Greek youth with foreign employers.
