Greek Cinema Travels to Brussels

Greek Movie BrusselA tribute to the Greek cinema will be held in Brussels in the next four months to honor the Greek Presidency.

The event is an initiative of the Royal Belgian Film Archive (Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique – CINEMATEK) and the Greek Film Archive, in collaboration with the Greek Film Centre and with the support of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both renowned and new Greek directors will present their movies and will hold discussions with the audience at the Royal Belgian Film Archive, which is one of the oldest and most important film archives worldwide.

The film festival will be organized in three parts. The first part is the Contemporary Greek Cinema; a selection of Greek movies and documentaries from the last five years will be presented at the CINEMATEK and at BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts during March 2014. The second is a Retrospective to Theo Angelopoulos which will be held from March 26 to April 27, 2014.The third part is the Anthology of Greek cinema; during May and June 2014, CINEMATEK will present the history of Greek cinema from 1920 to 2000 and a selection of old and silent Greek films.
