Greek President Karolos Papoulias is in Malta on a two-day official visit.
The ceremonial welcome was held this morning at the Palace Square, immediately before talks with President George Abela.
Mr Papoulias is also due to meet Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil and Speaker Anglu Farrugia, among others.
Following their meeting. Presidents Papoulias and Abela said they had discussed migration, maritime affairs and job-creation, among others, all within the context of the Greek presidency of the EU.
President Abela said that following the proposals made in the last EU summit, Malta now expected concrete action on immigration.
The two Presidents also exchanged national honors.
