The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) estimates that Greece will be one of the main destinations for British tourists this year. Expedia travel agency also includes Greece among the top destinations for British people for 2014.

Britain is the second most important market for Greek tourism. In fact, ABTA has enlisted Greece among the 12 most attractive destinations that British tourists should visit during 2014. In addition, ABTA mentions that Greece, due to the economic recession, has become a very attractive place for someone to spend  holidays as the prices have significantly declined. Thus, Greece is a really affordable option for British tourists.

The most popular Greek destinations for British tourists are the islands of Crete, Corfu, Rhodes and Zakynthos. However, the report highlights alternative options such as Thasos, Icaria, Alonissos and Skopelos, in order for someone to experience a so-called authentic Greece. The Greek island Santorini is also recommended for five star vacations.

According to Expedia’s data, searches for Greek island holidays have more than doubled for 2013 and 2014. Booking for Greece has also increased, up 36 percent falling behind only bookings to South Africa.
