Olga Kefalogianni: Turkey is Not Our Competitor

OLGA_KEFALOGIANNI“We never see Turkey as a competitor, we believe that the country is an important partner,” said the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni.

“We want to attract tourists from distant regions like China and India, who will also be visiting Turkey,” said the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni during her interview for the TV channel NTV.

Ms. Kefalogiani, who is now in Istanbul pointed out, that tourism is one of the most important sectors of the Greek economy and she is working to ameliorate it. “We would like to see an increase in the number of Turkish tourists in Greece and not be limited to summer months, but rather, throughout the entire year,” stated the Greek Minister.

The Minister of Tourism also talked about the issue of visa which seems to concern Turkey and mentioned that Greece was the “first country which secured facilities in Turkey, under the Schengen Agreement. Greece does everything to attract the Turks,” Kefalogianni said, adding that they will discuss this issue again during the Greek Presidency of the European Council.
