Sismanogleio Offers Turks Skype Greek Classes

SismanoglioThis year, some of the Turks who flock to Sismanogleio Megaro of the Consulate General of Greece will have the opportunity to be taught online Greek language courses via Skype.

Due to this year’s great demand, Sismanogleio Megaro is not able to accept beginners, so in order to serve those who want to learn Greek, it has began a cooperation with two private institutions which have branches in both the European and Asian side of Istanbul.

Turks who are interested to learn Greek are mostly young and highly educated. The Greek language courses in Sismanogleio had first began in 2008 and are being delivered for free thanks to the sponsorship offered by the Stavros Niarchos and Bodossaki Foundations.

Sismanogleio has 18 conventional Greek language classes, each of which includes 10 to 15 people. Beyond these, there is an extra class consisting of students who are getting prepared for the certification exam of the Greek Language Center conducted every year in May.
