According to the decision, which was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, the party’s official name is Democratic Left of Serbia – Party of the Greek minority in Serbia. The party’s headquarters is located in the town Tsoupria in central Serbia. The doctor Christos Alexopoulos, who is the president of the National Council of the Greek National Minority in Serbia, was registered as the party’s representative.
The Greek minority Party of Serbia will be able to participate in the elections, under the regime applicable for all minority parties. That means that there’s no electoral rate limit for entering the parliament. In Serbia, for all the other parties, except for the minority parties, a percentage of more than 5% is needed for their representation in the Parliament.
The Greek community in Serbia was granted the minority status in July 2010, by decision of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
