Italians Pour Praise on Samaras’ Government

images (1)ANSA, (Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata), the leading wire service in Italy and one of the leaders among world news agencies, in its telegraph to Athens noted that, “Τhere are positive messages for the work of Samaras’ government.”

In particular, ANSA’s news website, ANSAmed.info (where ‘med’ is short for Mediterranean and which covers the current affairs of all the countries of the Mediterranean Basin) stressed that, “Among the positive messages concerning Greece, are included the statements made by international figures that hitherto were extremely disapproving towards Athens, such as the German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, who a few days ago recognized that the Greek government has taken important steps of progress and who, with his recent visit, expressed his support to the Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras.”

The Italian news agency also mentions that “The US Treasury Secretary, Jack Lew-who visited Athens on Sunday 21st of July- recognized without hesitation the important work being done by the Greek government in the last months.”

One of the interpretations provided by ANSA to explain this turn of climate towards Greece is based on the assumption that, “The major international power centers concluded that stability in Greece is significantly important because of what is happening in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.”
