Greece at Roman Cerealia Fest 2013

headerENThe Roman Cerealia Festival, which is in its third year in the Italian capital, is dedicated to modern and ancient Greek culture and gastronomy this year. The reference to the ancient Greek goddess Demeter, Cerere in ancient Rome, provides the opportunity to present Greek delicacies, discuss ways to achieve Greeceā€™s economic recovery as well as to read excerpts from Homer’s Iliad.

In this year’s Festival, which is held in collaboration with the Embassy of Greece in Rome, the organizers wanted to honor the island of Crete through its products, music and culture. “Events like this, which highlight the beauty of our country and the Greek way of life, are especially important to bring closer the future that we desire,ā€ the Greek ambassador to Italy, Themistoklis Demiris told ANA MPA.

The Italian TV show presenter Alberto Angelo, who attended the event, also highlighted that “Greece and Italy are linked with a relationship reminiscent that of a mother with her child.ā€

Moreover, the regional Chairman of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, stressed among others to ANA MPA that ” in order to overcome the crisis, we all try to be better organized more efficiently giving particular emphasis on the promotion of our so many quality products.”
