Greece Sells Property Abroad

presveialondon1Four privatizations of Greek properties abroad have already been completed in the government’s effort to gather money. The UK consul’s townhouse in the picture was among them.

The residence, located near Holland Park in London, brought to the Greek government 23.3 million pounds ($35.2 million), according to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund. Greece also sold a real estate in Nicosia, Cyprus, for 8.3 million euros. Properties in Brussels and Belgrade were sold together for 5.3 million euros.

Regarding that real estate represents almost 75 percent of Greece’s public property, there is no wonder why privatization is the government’s first priority. Greece is committed to collecting  1.1 billion euros from privatizations by 2016.

There are two more real estates to be sold, one in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and another in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The sale process will start in 15 days, as stated by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund.
