Greece Parades in German Carnival

Germany CarnivalDuring the traditional Rose Monday carnival parade in Duesseldorf, which is considered one of the most exciting events during Halloween in Germany, Greece sure made its presence more than apparent.

The carnival float that drew everybody’s attention depicted a Greek painting a mustache on the face of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. On the left arm is written: Greece. On the German flag reads: You must save money.

The foolish street spectacles in the carnival centers of Duesseldorf, Mainz and Cologne, watched by hundreds of thousands of people, are the highlights in Germany’s carnival season on Rose Monday.

The classical Greek figure for Germans is as shown in the picture above, an ugly, bald man with a mustache.
