Santa’s Not Coming to Athens This Year

santa1-300x180With Greece struggling with the economic crisis and trying to find a solution, the British newspaper The Guardian recommends its readers choose cards by cartoonist Kipper Williams to send their holiday wishes, because one of his themes relates to Greece.

In this card, Santa Claus is riding his sleigh full of gifts and while flying over the Acropolis, signals his reindeer not to make a stop in Athens but continue their journey.

Among the other four cards that the Guardian invites its readers to upload on Twitter, send via email or even print, one is related to the Libor scandal – the interest rate banks charge each other – while another connects bankers with gambling.

This is the most difficult Christmas in years for many Greeks struggling with austerity. Even if Santa doesn’t stop in Greece this year, maybe he could at least send a card.
