Golden Byzantium and East Breaks Visitor Record

Hosted at the famous Renaissance Palaces of Lower Austria and focusing on the vital role the Byzantine Empire played in shaping the future of modern Europe and Constantinople, the Golden Byzantium and the East exhibition closed on Nov. 4 after drawing a record-breaking 140,000 visitors in seven months.

The exhibition featured 400 precious exhibits coming from 60 praised museums across Europe, including the Benaki Museum of Athens. The qualitative approach of the exhibition’s theme attracted many visitors including famous Austrian and foreign people, as well as those who had their origins in the Byzantine empire and a deep interest in history.

The exhibition featured small icons, ecclesiastical goods, sculptures and paintings, 3-D programs, video features, Byzantine music presentations and interactive projects.
