Ta Mourmourakia’s Traveling Rebetika

Τen chartered tram routes took their visitors on a unique music journey across the city of Munich in celebration of the 50 years of labor cooperation between Germany and Turkey. The musical event was organized last weekenend by the Turkish Community of the Bavarian capital under the title Tee und Bretzen (Tea and Pretzel) in cooperation with the Municipality of Munich.

All tours were free of charge, and the rebetika music group Ta Mourmourakia was also invited to participate along with arch priest Apostolos Malamousis and many others, within the framework of honoring the Greek-Turkish-Bavarian cooperation and friendship.

The Greek participation made an excellent impression on passengers and proved that people of different cultural background can co-exist in harmony. The Greek rebetika band, Ta Mourmourakia, consists of musicians Nikos Papadopoulos, Bayios Theodorakis and Nikos Palagkas. The trio performed in two different routes and received a very warm welcome.
