Turkish Businessman Eyes Greek OPAP

The Turkish Dogan Holding is interested in joining in the purchase of shares in Greeceā€™s sports gambling agency OPAP, which is going on the block as part of a privatization drive by the cash-strapped Greek government.

Turkish businessman and Dogan Holding owner Yahya Uzdiyen Dogan is active in the media (he owns Hurriyet daily,) energy, industry, trade, real estate, tourism and economics sector. Looking for new opportunities of investment, as noted in its announcement, Dogan Holding said it is eager to seize the opportunity with OPAP as long as the tender for the sale begins, saying it believes that would bring cash to the Greek government.

Dogan seems to be solely interested in the OPAP sale and has therefore met with a broker tendering Turkish investments in Greek grounds, in order to be informed about all recent developments in the privatizations taking place in the country.
