Lithuanian Mayor Eyes Greek Island for Tourist Spas

The mayor of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, Artūras Zuokas, is reportedly trying to buy a Greek island on behalf of the city for the development of Lithuanian spas and hotels. He has already identified one being sold by the Greek state for $5.76 million.

Local media reported that Zuokas anticipates the city will pay for the island alongside Lithuanian businesses, and that the island would eventually be ceded to the Lithuanian state. Critics say that the scheme would require changes to the Lithuanian constitution and note that Vilnius is already $363.72 million in debt. Greece is currently attempting to raise money through the sale of 6,000 uninhabited islands.

Is this what it has come to. Is this the aim of the austerity measures?

To partition Greece, even it’s uninhabited Islands?

    No.

If the mayor of Vilnius want’s to invest in a Greek Island Spa, then he can lease it for 10 years. And no cesation ideas from anyone. Is this what our forefathers and ancestors fought for and gave their blood for. To have Greece torn apart by the economic pressures from the EU, EZ, IMF and any other financial institution.

Let them try this with Turkey or Italy or the USA? I don’t think it will be possible.

Who on earth sells off their soverign property and reduces the size of their country?

If that is what the aim of the international lenders is then they can get lost and we will pull out of the EZ and other institutions and become like China.

If this ever happens, let there be war.
