Thousands of Turkish people appear to have chosen the Greek islands for this summer’s vacations, especially after the Greek state’s decision to make the Visa granting process much easier.
The Greek islands most attractive to Turkish visitors are the eastern ones including Kos, Lesvos, Samos and Chios.
“Most visitors we have are of Turkish descent,” said Aris Lazaris, a tour agent on Lesvos island, who has noticed a 100% increase in reservations made by our neighbors while in contrast bookings by other countries have decreased by 50%.
Manager of a famous Chios-based hotel, Mr Petros Fengoudakis, commented that “we had Turkish visitors in the past but they used to come for one-day-trips only. Now they are staying longer.”
