12 Greek Teens at the World Junior Championship in Barcelona

Barcelona will host the 2012 World Junior Championship, and many people from all over the world will visit the Spanish city to watch the field and track event. Among the participants will be many young Greek athletes as well.

On July 10-15, 12 Greek up-and-coming sports figures will participate in the world championship and will do their best to win as many gold medals as possible. Greece has a good tradition is this championship and thus, these 12 teens will try to continue it.

Nikos Tsiokos, a 17-year-old triple jump athlete, is one of those expected to finish in good place. He is the world’s eighth junior athlete.

Another Greek participant, Iliana Korosidou, flew to Barcelona and will try to return to Greece with a good score. Korosidou has accomplished Greece’s highest score in hammer throw while her 62.64 metres record is the world’s 16th.

Some more young athletes taking part in the Barcelona championship are Chrysanthopoulos Thodoris competing in the boy’s pole vault, girl’s pole vaulter Stefanidi Georgia and Tatiana Gusin in the high jump.
