Greeks Lash out at David Cameron

The fury just won’t end.  Greeks literally hit out at David Cameron’s comments about entry restrictions.

To be more precise, Greece’s co ruling Socialists hit out at British prime minister, David Cameron, accusing him of “insulting” Athens, by saying that Britain could restrict the entry of Greeks and citizens of other “economically deprived” euro zone countries.

The PASOK party and former finance minister Evangelos Venizelos clearly stated that David Cameron would do better to explain his country’s position and re-evaluate his statements. The party said in a statement, “Is the UK, which is not a member of the euro zone, so interested in the unity and stability of the euro zone that it is threatening policing measures which violate all principles, basic freedoms and rules of the EU?”

The uncertainty of the whole situation put Cameron under pressure from euro-sceptics in his conservative party, in order to give Britons a vote on whether they wish to remain inside the EU or just to downgrade their relationship with Brussels and by extension the rest of Europe.

As it was expected, this comment touched a nerve in Greece, where a lot of Greeks feel not only humiliated but also infuriated with the debt crisis..

Let’s just face it–The situation in Britain is not any better either and one could only agree that there was always a history of animosity and discrimination between the two countries only to intensify these last couple of years.
