Literature Week Held in Munich Greek Schools

The Aristofanis Association in Munich devoted one week to the work of the author George Lekakis, who writes about folklore issues. This event was part of several events undertaken by the Greek schools of the Bavarian capital, organized in collaboration with the school committee of the 2nd Primary School of Munich “Pythagoras.”

“We should thank every friend of our association who keep supporting our efforts. Without their contribution and participation, we would have definitely not had such good results,” said the President of Aristofanis association, Panagiotis Michailides. He continues, “George Lekakis visited many schools and discussed with the students about literature and poetry, while was also in charge for the first Lyrics Constest held at the 2nd primary school. He started a whole new event, with regards to lyrics and poetry.”

During his stay in Munich, the Greek author presented his book “Paxi, the Passion Islands” (Erodios publications), which many officials of the Greek community of Munich attended, as well as teacher of Greek Folk music, Thanasis Polykandriotis.

Aristofanis decided to continue its cooperation with Lekakis and next year, in collaboration with the Cretan association of Munich, they will deliver another book of his to the graduate students.

George Lekakis was born in Munich, where he also studied Sociology-Folklore and Journalism. He has worked as a journalist for several Greek newspapers and has already published two theatrical plays and three poetic books, as well as many other literary books.
