Greece Wins Big At 2012 European Design Awards in Helsinki

Helsinki, Finland, was this year’s European Design Capital. The awards ceremony took place Saturday, May 26, announcing the winners of the sixth European Design Awards.

523 agencies from 34 different countries participated in the 2012 competition, indicating the tremendously increased interest of European countries for the event.

Greek contestants made the country proud, as they managed to win 5 golden awards (only second to the Netherlands’ 6 awards) and a total of 20 distinctions (third after Germans and Netherlanders with 30 and 26 distinctions respectively).

And the winners are: G Design Studio for the Athens State Orchestra logo (Category: 02. Company Logo), Bob Design Studio for the Eleia Olive Oil package (Category: 18. Packaging Food & Beverages), Nomint for the animation of “Tonight” (Category: 14. Motion Graphics), Mouse Graphics for Brüken packaging (Category: 19. Packaging Miscellaneous) and Dolphins-Communications Design for the Balkan Tales (Category: 01. Brand Logo).

The Hague-based Silo was declared European design Agency, while the Best of the Show Award was given to Germans for the “decodeunicode.” The Jury Prize gave their special golden prize to the Dutch agency Gummo for the stamps “Stad van Nederland “ or “City of the Netherlands: the Future in Motion.”
