Greek Woman Seriously Injured in 55ft Fall from Brighton Window

A woman who plunged 55ft from an open window survived with just broken bones.
Police and doctors yesterday said the 30-year-old woman was “extremely lucky” to be alive after she tumbled from the fourth floor of Madeira Mansions in Broad Street, Kemp Town, Brighton.
The woman, a Greek national who lives in the street, fell at 11.40pm on Thursday. However, because she landed in an awkward location medics could not reach her.

Neighbours described hearing the woman screaming in pain for two hours while rescuers tried to get her out of the narrow gap.
The woman, in her 30s, had fallen out of a fourth floor window, hit a sloping roof and then fell a further 15ft into a concrete basement.
Firefighters had to use ladders and safety harnesses to help a doctor and paramedic get to the woman.
Will Marler, crew commander at Roedean fire station, said: “It was very difficult to get to her and we could hear her screaming.
