Thieves Break into Orthodox Church in Albania

One more burglary in the Orthodox church was reported last night in Moscopole, situated in the Korçë district in Albania. Unknown offenders managed to steal the bell from the old church located in the historic area.

The church, which is devoted to Virgin Mary, was built around 1700, and its historic and cultural presence is regarded to be invaluable.

Two years ago, burglars tried to enter the same age-old church. Back then, the ignorant thieves removed icons from the church.

During the past year, criminals have repeatedly broken into churches, all of which are of great cultural importance. The number will increase if authorities do not react. Up till now, none of the offenders have been arrested, making further thefts possible.
