Greek Products Promoted in Brussels

Under the auspices of European Commissioner Maria Damanaki, the Greek Community of Brussels organized a presentation and promotion of Greek wines and traditional food products of great quality on May 24 at the Berlaymont, the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels.

This event, which is supported and sponsored by the Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development and Food, is part of a broader promotion program of Greek agricultural products. Both political officials and businesses made a coordinated attempt to bring the world closer to Greek olive oil, wines, cheese, soaps and other products. Special tribute was paid to Greek grape varieties.

Members and employees of the European bodies located in Brussels, successful businessmen of Belgium and many more people interested in this initiative joined the Greek event and showed their support to Greek products.

Damanaki, despite not attending the event personally, welcomed attendees, saying that this decision of the Greek Community “brings us a very positive message of hope.”

Similar initiatives took place during the past few months through many other businessmen and politicians in European countries, Malaysia, Australia, the USA and Canada as well, in a bid to promote Greek food and give a boost to the country’s financial stability.
