New Book on the Greek Crisis Releases Next Week in Italy

“La Guerra dell’ Europa” is the new book by Monia Benini soon to be released in Italy (May 18). The book of  “Europe’s war” focuses on the Greece situation, giving the dimension of a war launched by the banking sector and Europe against Greece.

On its back cover, the book reads, “There is a new war in Europe. A war without guns, without canons, without bombs but with highly efficient massive destruction weapons forged by the global financial system. It is a war coming from far away, spreading and taking over the European countries thanks to the occupying forces of men dressed in white collars and ties… shooting away at their keyboards and transferring outrageous iconic amounts of money. But there is nothing iconic about the crisis plaguing Greece. It is an everyday torture, cruel and dramatic in its everyday life aspect. The Greek people have never lived through anything like this before, not even when the foreign occupation troops had taken over the country.”

The book documents this new art of financial war; its protagonists, their strategies, tactics and specific victims. It also refers to the rating agencies, the Troika, the IMF decisions and the ECB measures.

Benini holds several degrees in foreign languages and European literature and has completed her studies in international relations at the University of Padova, the Institute of International Politics in Milan, the Institute of Sociology “Don L. Sturzo” in Caltagirone, Italy and the Perpignan University in France. She is also member of the Italian political movement “Per il Bene Comune” (“For the Common Good”) and has produced special video features on the Greek and Italian crisis’.
