German Newspaper Attacks Chrysochoidis Over HIV-Positive Prostitutes

The German newspaper Bild attacked Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisohoidis. In an article entitled “Disgusting: A Greek Minister is Slandering Prostitutes,” the German newspaper criticizes the Greek minister for the publicizing of personal data and photographs of the prostitutes who were found positive for HIV.

After sarcastically noting that all of Greece knows that these women are HIV positive, the newspaper article also draws attention to the fact that a few hours before the election, there is a “dirty election campaign going on.”

It states: “A short time before the parliamentary elections of the bankrupt country, the Media are labeling these sick women, while at the same time the Greek authorities are speaking of a great achievement.”

The newspaper accuses Minister Chrisohoidis of choosing a “cheap” way to attract votes while the country is financially experiencing a terrible state.

After the publication of the photographs depicting the faces of the HIV-positive prostitutes, the Minister stated: “The publication of photographs is legal,” adding that the men who had sexual intercourse with the HIV carriers “should realize the danger.”
