Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, member of the German Parliament with the German Free Democratic Party (FDP) and President of the DHW (German-Hellenic Economic Association), calls on Germans to choose Greece for this summer’s holidays.
He also suggests that the Greek government should pay more attention to Health Tourism, which could offer Greece high incomes, since they have never taken advantage of the several thermal baths and warm springs of the country.
Answering to the Bank of Greece’s announcement about the falling rates of tourism in Greece, Chatzimarkakis stated that “Greece could get over crisis only through development.”
He mentioned in his DHW speech that “holidays in Greece means extraordinary landscape, hospitable people and mostly, financial support, so that Greeks can get over the crisis.”
Chatzimarkakis also said that Greece should “limit the travelling offers. Instead of extremely cheap holiday packages, Greek goverment should promote Health Tourism,” adding, “The combination of treatment and vacation should be a development sector of great importance.”
