Unterföhring Municipality Donates 2,000 Euros to Greek-Orthodox Church

First Mayor of Unterföhring in Germany Franz Schwarz delivered a two-million-euro check to the Archpriest and highest clergy member of Bavaria Apostolos Malamousis to go towards iconography in the All Saints Court Church in Munich.

The delivery of the check took place yesterday, after the conduction of the Divine Liturgy, which the first Mayor of Unterföhring attended along with the second Mayor, Mr. Weingärtner, and their wives.

At his speech, the Mayor underlined that he was able to contribute with ethical and financial means to further the iconography of the Holy Church of All Saints, Munich, as well as the 8th Hellenic-Bavarian Culture Day, that will take place – as every year – on June 24 at the central square of Munich, Odeonsplatz.

At their short address, the Archpriest and town counselor Giannakakos thanked and praised Franz Schwarz for his philhellenic feelings and particularly his decision to support the Hellenism of Munich, especially in the difficult times that Greece is facing.

The above picture, taken by Christos Marazidis for ana-mpa, depicts following attendees of the event: (from left to right) Archpriest Georgios Vletsis, Archpriest Apostolos Malamousis, Mayors Franz Schwarz and Thomas Weingärtner with their spouses and Archpriest Ikonomos Ploutarxos Konstantinidis.
