Lamborghini Trademarks Ancient Greek Mythology Name “Deimos”

Ancient Greek god “Deimos” will give his name to one of the two new models expected to be launched by Lamborghini at this month’s Beijing Auto Show.

The Italian supercar manufacturer decided, for the first time in its history, to let go of the tradition of naming its models after fighting bulls and trademark the name of the Greek deity.

Deimos was the son of Ares, God of War, and Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty. According to Greek Mythology, Deimos is more of a personification and an abstraction of the sheer terror that is brought by war.

It is unclear yet whether the “Deimos” name will be given to the new SUV or a totally new concept of the company. Many, however, do expect the twin brother of Deimos, Phobos, to follow in the future.
