“Greece is for Lovers” Travels to Milan for Design Week

The “Greece is for Lovers” creative minds will travel to the Italian fashion city of Milan to participate in Design Week on Easter, and to present their first edition of Up/Market Milan, a self-commissioned open gallery, as organized by Pr/Undercover.

Thanos Karampatsos and Christina Kotsilelou will be presenting their unique perspective on the so called “modern Hellenism” to the Italian and international market. The innovative artistic production is based on ancient Greek aspects, trend hints from the Greece of the 1980s and simple every-day items that are wittily, extravagantly and unexpectedly combined in sometimes-kitschy items.

Some of “Greece is for Lovers” typical creations are: the Go Naked plastic chair dressed in reclaimed fox fur, the full-scale skateboard hand made in red clay, decorated in the style of ancient Greek pottery and the alternative iPod holder, hand-knitted in cotton using the traditional technique of Greek lace making.

Conceived at the foot of the Acropolis hill in Athens, “Greece is for Lovers” have been avidly producing and exhibiting their products worldwide, such as in Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium, South Korea, Germany and the USA since 2006.

A selection of G.I.F.L. limited edition and one-off pieces will be on show, alongside the work of selected designers, artists, performers and craftsmen in Milan.

Furniture, lighting, botanical pieces, edible sculptures, photographs and drawings, will occupy an indoor space of 300 square meters, a former auto body shop, part of a late-19th century Milanese townhouse.

Duration: April 13-22. Throughout MiArt (April 13-16) and for the duration of Milan Design Week (April 17-22)

Cocktail Opening: April 13 @ 7pm

Opening hours: 10:00am-7pm. Free entry.
