Belgium: Greek Student Wins EU Young Translation Contest “Juvenes Translatores”

Ariadni Tsiaka from the 5th General High School of Karditsa is the young Greek winner of the contest “Juvenes Translatores” organized by the European Commission.

Twenty-seven students, one from each Member State, will receive a trophy and a diploma for producing the best translation from their country in a contest for schools organized by the European Commission. Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, will give the awards, during a special ceremony that is to take place today on the 27th of March.

Juvenes Translatores (Latin for “young translators”), launched in 2007, is a translation contest for secondary school pupils (17 years old) in the European Union (EU) organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).

More than 3,000 students from the 27 Member States participated in the contest.
