Austria: Greeks Honored the 25th March National Anniversary

The Greeks of Austria honored the 25th March National Anniversary yesterday noon with a festive doxology service at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Holy Trinity in the historical Greek Community in the centre of Vienna, following a ceremony at the monument of the great Greek visionary and national martyr Rigas Feraios.

Hundred of Greeks of Austria, representatives of Greek and Cypriot Associations, the Greek Ambassador Themistocles Dimidis and Cypriot Ambassador Konstantinos Papadimas, as well as many Austrian Philhellenes attended the doxology held by Arsenios, Metropolitan of Austria-Exarch of Hungary And Middle Europe.

The attendants were accompanied by the students of the Greek National School of Vienna – the oldest active Greek school ever abroad, that celebrated its 200 year anniversary in 2004.

Wreaths were also deposited in Feraios’s monument by the Ambassadors of Greece and Cyprus, by representatives of the historical communities of Holy Trinity and St. George, and the president of the federation of Greek Associations in Austria.
