“Taste of Greece” in the European Parliament

The exhibition “Taste of Greece” was inaugurated on March 20 at the premises of the European Parliament. Greek Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Petros Alivizatos underlined that Greek gastronomy’s potentials as a tourist product have not been exploited as much as they should have, during his speech.

The Greek products offer a special quality which tourists traditionally seek when they are in Greece, as well as on the supermarket shelves in their own countries.

“It is a prospect of development that we must strategically develop,” he stressed.

Vice President of the European Commission responsible for entrepreneurship issues, Antonio Tajani, and the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, attended the event.

During his visit in Brussels, Alivizatos had a private meeting with Tajani who spoke with enthusiasm of Greece’s efforts and reassured him that the European Commission supports Greece and will continue to do so in the future.

Moreover, he expressed his faith that Greek tourism is a sector that provides the potential for viable and sustainable development, adding that he will visit Athens on April 20 to discuss the new financing programs for tourist exploitation.
