UK Spectator’s Controversial Ad οn Germans Owning Greece

An advertising campaign launched by the conservative UK magazine “Spectator” has caused quite a stir amidst internet and social network users.

The British magazine decided to use Greece and the current harsh situation plaguing the country in order to advertise itself. “Most Germans own a second property. It’s called Greece” reads the slogan of the magazine ad posted in English trains.

Public comments and responses to the advertisement vary, from humorous to angry and clever to provocative.

According to journalist and Twitter blogger Ben Sutherland and blogger @duncanhart, the advertisement of Spectator is a clever one, while others such as @RupertWhite claim that the advertisement can only appeal to lazy people.
