French Scholarships Offered To Greek Authors

Four Honorary Scholarships will be awarded to eminent Greek authors, and fourteen to emerging authors, within the framework of the 2-year program of the National Book Centers of Greece & France, that was instituted last July in order to support Greek writers, translators and publishers.

In particular, four Honorary Scholarships of 7,000 Euros each will be awarded to Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Stratis Paschalis, Ersi Sotiropoulou and Fotis Terzakis, while Encouraging Scholarships of 3,500 Euros each will be awarded to new authors such as Georgios Archimandritis, Athanasios Vassiliou & Nikiforos Stamatakis, Kostas Kavanozis, Stergia Kavvalou, Ioanna Mpourazopoulou, Christos Oikonomou, Eftyxia Panagiotou, Kallia Papadaki, Vassiliki Petsa, Argyro Pipini, Dimitris Sotakis, Kostis Tsiachas, Vaggelis Chatzigiannidis and Konstantinos Chatzinikolaou.

164 applications were forwarded in total for the above mentioned scholarships, and thus the National Book Centers of Greece & France decided to offer more scholarships.

The decision, announced on Wednesday, was taken on the 10th of February in Paris by a Greek-French joint committee consisting of the following: the President of the National Book Centre of France, Jean-François Colosimo and members of the committee like Isabelle Nyffenegger, Aurélie Latchimy, Sabine Wespieser, Florence Noiville, Catherine Velisari and Takis Theodoropoulos.

During the same meeting in Paris, the date of the first professional meeting between Greek and French publishers was finalized, in which 5 to 8 Greek publishers will participate. The meeting will be held on the 27th of July and will run through the 29th of July in Paris.
